About rotilt

Rotilt technology is the research, marketing and licensing company for the rotilt concept in handle design.

Rotilt (also known as enhanced rotation of a tilted handle) was a chance discovery by Glen Heavenor while studying awkward wrist movements caused by poor handle design.

Realising that many products could benefit from a handle offering better arm posture, companies drawn from a wide product range were targeted, leading to the inclusion of rotilt in the product development programme of several, with Mothercare being the first to license the technology for four of their models of strollers which had their launch on the UK market during March 2000.

Benefits of the rotilt handle

1. provides a new way of holding and manipulating objects as diverse
as violin bows, buggies, saucepans and hammers. Based on the
"spiral lever" in human and animal bones, the handles allow the
  natural rotation of implements.
2. is the first handle to enhance the role of the muscles of the thumb,
thus offering better control and greater safety.
3. provides consumers with handles that may be held and used in
many different positions without awkward wrist and arm postures.
4. widespread use of the handles opens the possibility of a solution to
the increasing problem of strains and slow developing injuries (RSI
  and work related musculoskeletal disorders.

Rotilt Ergonomic Handles have been awarded Millennium Product status in recognition of their forward-thinking and creative design.

Rotilt is part of the Glasgow Collection which was the catalyst for a wave of innovation and creativity in Scotland.

Glasgow Design will capture this and showcase local design to the world.
